Alexandra Park
21st July 1985

This is taking liberties, I know. The only feeble excuse I can offer is it has the "Manchester Corp of Drums" on it,(where are they now....?).It reminds me of one time listening to radio 1,(maybe when I was washing the dishes or something....I hope),and these mentioned D.J. types and their ilk were being interviewed while having a live broadcast Christmas party;rivitting stuff.Anyway to a man/woman/child,when asked what their favourite song had been that year, certainly to my surprise, they pretty much all replied "Story of the Blues" Wah Heat.I think Mr.Peel must have some particular clout around the station that year.Sadly one of the only times....Oh yeah, and that Dave Lee Travis (Hairy Cornflake indeed!) was from Wytheshawe.I believe he was a debt collector back then....says it all.Still he did introduce Jimi Hendrix to the great British public.Would have been good to win that Sinclair C5 methinks...(.Kept that brief!P.S. putting it under Alexandra park 'cos it's an outdoor venue).
