10th September 1988

Steam Brewery was only recently opened at this time I think. My partner worked behind the bar for a while so I went there quite a bit but I don't recall the downstairs;I do remember the odd band upstairs though...Yeah,must be about the time my memory started playing tricks on me....Right that's a few more things put up;nosh time!

“I have a couple of flyers for Breeze at the Old Steam Brewery which I'll upload (also Tintin.) The night was run by a guy called Denton who moved to London after about 18 months, at which point the night ended. It ran on a fortnightly basis, through 88 and 89. It was mainly frequented by students because of the venue's proximity to the polytechnic. Denton played jazz-dance and I can still remember the weird feeling of dancing on the tiled floor. The downstairs was a good space; the same size as the ground floor but with a low ceiling and tiles on the floor instead of timber.”
