Not sure if this is in any way legible but if anyone’s bothered they can probably work it out. This must have been the Summer of The “Blue Monday”; could be heard from the Laura Ashley shop in York (note:- I wasn’t buying), to the check-out queue in Shopping Giant...(can’t believe I used to sometimes buy records in the Co-op as well as Boot’s the chemist, and N.S.S. the newsagents! Those ubiquitous 7” poly vinyl chloride round things with the hole in the middle, seemed to be like..well...everywhere!
It mentions Tony Walton at The Pier as well as Legends so I've put him on your D.J. list. Although pretty much for the first year and a half I don't think I missed a Thursday once, by this time I'd probably slackened off......Another sudden flashback. I uploaded and wrote a bit about Legends before but I just remembered (how could I forget!) ,probably the first time I went to the club, clocking a certain beauty stood at the bar dressed in what looked like a slinky, tight-fitting , one piece, pillar box red and presumably leather jumpsuit sort of a thing;(looks like the brain certainly locked that one in & not with any embellishments;if there are, good on ya brain!). Anyway when she turned round, in the American vernacular, she was butt naked , with only the tiniest , flimsiest red string ,zig-zagging down from her neck to her ankles and presumably just about holding the whole piece together. I recognised her from a clothes shop called Karl Twigg in the antique market down Deansgate way. I don't believe I was the only person who registered her look, but for 1982, in the heart of M/c it was, for better or for worse, the exception rather than the rule.Of course everyone acted all sort of nonchalent but nonetheless interests were aroused....Maybe that's why I went without fail for the next year and a half, but I never did see that fetching red outfit again....
