Setlist
Inca Babies, Dave Booth
Legend

Looks like I’ve jumped almost a year in time with this playlist. Things seemed to have moved on apace at the club with brand new, second hand D.J. s from around the way. I remember Alan playing at DeVille’s and from the playlists I can see I would prefer his “chart” to Dave Booth’s, who seemed to have already crossed over to the dark side .Good to see the music policy covered the waterfront and had a bit of pick ‘n mix to it; reggae in an Eek A Mouse Chinese/Japanese Indian stylee! I used to purchase the odd reggie choon for Alan, just on my own tastes , and he’d re-imburse me; never got no complaints nor nuffin’. One particular choice I think was “Guilty of the Killing” (that doesn’t look right...?) , about Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen; very odd choice for a Yardie track but semi-suited to a post apocalypto danceteria night. Wailing Souls was another. Sometimes I’d be the only one on the dancefloor, doing my Michael Flatley cum Max Wall leg manoeuvres (maybe that’s why...? and perhaps one of the myriad of reasons I never felt quite up to blagging an audition with The Jazz Defektors; costs nuthin’ to dream...). I remember I “made” a pair of what I thought were fairly natty trouser accoutrements; cheapo (as in found), beige, guaranteed one hundred percent nylon pants into which I had emblazoned numerous spiral swirls, very similar to what one might achieve if one were to say, repeatedly place such nylon apparel on the burning ring of a cooker top; only to be attempted under the careful supervision of an adult, as I found out to my own detriment....Not sure what I thought I looked like; possibly like a man who’d burnt his trousers....
That Sex Gang Children track....I can still hear it! Surely they woz ‘avin a laff when they knocked that one out, (probably on the inside)...And “Turn to Red”, wisely used in an episode of “Ashes to Ashes” I noticed. Gene Hunt, what a ....rascal.
