Steve Toon, Mooksie Hoot And The Cocktail Party
Manchester Polytechnic Cavendish House
29th January 1981

The Passions were on The Cure’s label and had a great single “Hunted”; kind of a reggie choon with a feminist sensibility,if you like that sort of a thing.
Mooksie Hoot was a local band round for years, along with band names like Bathroom Renovations, Gatecrash, Dr. Filth, but like Vienna, it means nothing to me.......
Strange how the (my) brain works....word association an' ting. Ultravox at The Mayflower, circa '80, with Midge Ure just having taken over from disgruntled John Foxx. Bit boring; Johnny The Foxx would have been better...

“Ah now there's a name I recognize - Bathroom Renovations. The band members were all named after toilet and bathroom manufacturers, one of them was called Armitage Shanks, the others I can't remember. They were from Sale and my mate was a synth player with them. We were on art foundation course at South Trafford College together 1979 - 1981. They were very influenced by Joy Division and may have even supported them at some point. I don't think they ever recorded anything though. Another great post thanks!”
