Inner Sense Percussion, The Waltones
International 2
1st October 1988

Post “Rainbow Warrior” and Greenpeace still had time to give a bob or two to the seals. Seen a few in their natural habitat and although they’ve got the “Ah” factor they don’t ‘alf pong.......John Martyn was a good mate of Nick Drake’s I believe and again (!!) never got to see neither...( granted, was a tad too much on the wee nipper side to see Nick Drake).Don’t know how many members Inner Sense had but at any one time there must have been a good fifteen or twenty; they made a joyful noise though and I’m sure brightened many a shopper’s day as they passed them busking on Market St. in the mid ‘80s.

“Having that many members was a great way to ensure that we never earned more than £3.37 each per gig. I remember this gig well. 'Met' John Martyn in the dressing room and I'd like to be able to say we had an interesting an enlightening conversation about the roots of British folk and his opinions on Nick Drake but actually he was very, very drunk and he just made slurry, loud proclamations each time he entered the room. He still managed to play an amazing set though.”
