The Boardwalk

Ticket for New York band Sonic Youth at The Boardwalk in Manchester. I remember turning up with a friend who did'nt have a ticket. Gig was a sell out but the guy on the door let us both in anyway. And no entrance fee for my friend. Pretty sure it was Dave Haslam who let my friend in for free. Can't imagine it would happen these days.

“Sonic Youth were paid £350 for this show. Hire of the Boardwalk was £50, discounted from £80. Membranes were the support, they played for free, bless 'em.”

“Went to this and their gig at the Ardri about a year later. I wish I could remember more!”
