Gun Club at Hac. Saw them here one time but must have been a different occasion as Sisters Of Mercy were the support and not one little Indian and his merry men. Gun Club were a good band and Sisters of Mercy were a particularly ugly band ,till they got spruced up and started carrying canes and top hats and whatever passed for “style” in the minds of gothy Yorkshire types.
Never saw the Cocteau Twins; pity. Always loved that girls voice...

“If this was the Cocteau's gig that I was at then it was rammed and Liz Fraser's voice gave out in the first or second song. The gig was then pulled. Your ticket stub got you into the replacement gig a few weeks later at, of all places, Tiffany's - or whatever the place above Rafters was called then on Oxford Rd. I think the Gun Club gig is a live video or album.”

“Hmmm, maybe I've got this wrong. I've googled it and found audio of the gig at floorboards.blog.co.uk/2010/10/30/coc... Their onlyu gig ay the Hac. Liz's voice does pack in on Sugar Hiccup but she carries on. There's no mention of a replacement gig on the gigographies but I could have sworn...? There's a Mike Pickering interview where he talks about her crying during the soundcheck cos the acoustics were so bad!”

“Went to both of these gigs. I'd just left Lavolta Lakota before this gig which worked for them cos they got a much better drummer in! The Cocteaus were great. Yes the sound was really echoey but suited them! Liz twiddled her thumbs alot!”
