More of the same.....Hacienda ‘What’s On’April/May ’84.Not sure I ever saw Spear of Destiny but saw Theatre of Hate a couple of times. First time was at the Cavendish with The Meteors as support. “My Daddy is a Vampire”; what a great track that was! wish I’d kept it....I recall on Theatre of Hate’s encore Kirk Brandon was so keen to get back into it that when he ran back onto the stage he charged head first into the mike and whacked himself on the forehead, ouch! My, how we laughed.....They played The Ritz a year or so later but I don’t remember too much about that.
The Prince Charles track “Cash Money” was a certified floor filler ‘bout that time ,and Hanoi Rocks at The Hac; who’d o’ thowt? A bit of glam metal for your edification. I never saw ‘em but I do recall them playing at The Gallery around the same time as Bad Brains and they were really good by all accounts.....

“The Hanoi Rocks gig was a cracker, the audience they used to pull in was a real mix of tribes- punks, skinheads, flat tops, glam rockers all out to have a good time. As usual the gig ended with Razzle [RIP don't get in a car with a pissed driver] singing Blitzkrieg Bop with Mike Monroe playing drums. I also saw them play at the Ashton Metro. Earlier on in the year i went to the Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers reunion at the Hacienda, another good if pretty shambolic evening was had.”

“Bourgie Bourgie! When The Smiths very first emerged, Sounds music mag tried to lump a few bands together, as music mags are wont to do, into an artificial movement. Bourgie Bourgie were lumped in with The Smiths as "The Handsome Bands" which stuck for, ooh, at least a fortnight.”

“The first songs that i can remember dancing to in the Hac were Qual by Xmal Deutschland and Bela Lugosi's Dead by Bauhaus. We were skint and on Lime and Soda for, if I recall correctly, 15p!”

“Went to the Xmal gig. Support was from Red Lorry Yellow Lorry. It was my first time at the Hac. I had never been to anything so loud. My ears were shot. Couldn't hear straight for about 3 days...”
