New Manchester Review April 6th ’79. Girlschool’s take on “Race With the Devil”, produced by Lemmy; good effort that, and one of only a handful of that sort of thing I ever bought.
Other stuff in the Review:- Landscape at B.O.T.W. (presumably the band who did “Norman Bates” and “Einstein a Go Go”, slightly odd and catchy one that...).
Bob Williamson at The Royal Exchange / Slaughter new 4 track e.p. release while Mike /rossi off to form Studio Sweethearts (whatever happened to them...?).
Foreign Press (formally Emergency- don’t recall them being the same), recording at Cargo for a release on Altrincham’s Strrets Ahead Records.
Reviews of “Indiscreet Music/ DubiousCollaborations”; a 500 copy releaseon Object Records....sounds interesting.
Magazine’s “Second Hand Daylight”, “...beautifully packaged...and less prone to ‘the-light-shines-out-of-my-arse” mentality, as the reviewer says./ Fall “Live at The Witch Trials”.....
Damned at The Russell 7/04/’79.
Zanathus @ Ashton and round the way. Seem to recall they played with The Cheaters a bit and did a cover of “Kinnel Tommy” for some reason.
Dusty Springfield at The Apollo 8/04/’79. Kate Bush same week as well, damn!
Toyah along with her webbed feet at The Russell, Fri 13th ..unlucky for some....
Jean Jacques Brunel @ Factory, “Older punks’ night as it says here, so all of 24 then, and so on....
Folk stuff at Poynton Folk Festival including the slightly peculiar Earl Okin who I clocked one time doing a kind of jovial acousticy/ jazzy routine, making very convincing trumpet noises and caked in make-up....entertaining though...
Lorra stuff, too small and/ or too much to upload.
