Jazz Defektors, Kalima
1984

From City Life 11; May ’84. Don’t think I’ve ever seen that film....
Mention on same page of Jocelyn Brown’s new single, “Somebody Else’s Guy”. What an absolute stomper that was!! ‘specially the opening acapella bit and a firm favourite in das clubs. Remember buying that and a reggae album based around the “General for all General” riddim with the Little John track “All Over Me” being the personal stand- out. When I got home from town I kept playing both tracks back to back, over and over again, leaping round the room like a thing possessed, while me cat Handbrake,(a scraggy, white long-haired beast I found living in a hedge at me sister's in Woodhouse Park; thick and deaf as a post), just sat there confused , thinking what’s wrong with that person!....or maybe where's me tea!... At least I never ran up the curtains. Many years later, when she did "Believe" she still absolutely had it; a fine example of what sounds quaintly termed now as "uplifting house".“Can’t fake the Feeling” ,Geraldine Hunt , was another corker from the early '80's time; killer bass line that..
