A Guy Called Gerald
1988

From City Life student special, Oct '88.
Tricky one this cos there's a bit to it and it's too big to scan but it relates to all the up
and comers, newly arrived and future has-beens on the city's musical radar.
"A" for Acid House; big 'oop north while darn sarf they're "still too wrapped up in their '70's phase....". All the relevant bands mentioned and Key 103's Stu Allen is the main man.....There was an awful, kind of patronising Panorama type documentary round that time about the "musical phenomenon" interspersed with Joe Bloggs baggy type apparell and some sort of obligatory police raid at some wavey,ravey davey type affair.It's a bit of a vague memory but it just seemed like it took a slightly sensationalist approach and was found wanting.Maybe,as with" Polythene Pam", they should have sent the "News of the World" in...Oh Rupert what have you done now....
B=Morrissey’s new interest, Bradford.
C= Chapter and Verse.
D= Dub Sex with a free flexi with the Debris literary fanzine, mini L.P. “Push” and a “Mega Peel Session...”.
E= Ed Barton and him never living down “ that Tube appearance”.
F= F. Sidebottom
Lots of other bands listed under each letter, and so it goes on.Anyone wishing to see more should send a 5 pound postal order and will receive a free smiley face sticker while stocks last....
In the ’84 “student Special” issue the mag did a similar thing ,but of course many on the list of bands had changed considerably.
