Suns Of Arqa
1980

While considering record shops and all things vinyl, “Revenge of the Mozabites’, Suns of Arqa. Bought this in The Roxy shop in the upstairs Oasis part of the Underground Market prob. circa 1980, when “Indian” Dave Hicks worked there. Don’t know why they had a stack of these albums in the shop as it was really just for trendy clobber but anyway it’s a good album and probably pre-dates the World Music/ New Age tag by several years even though it really is a mash up of all musical styles. Scully, one of the many transient and ever changing musos in the line-up, used to play the fiddle round the Irish pubs in Rusholme etc. as I recall.....Johnny Marr was another employee of that retail outlet for a time, I think this record’s the only thing I ever bought from there though....
