On 2nd November 2011 at 2.00pm, PRS for Music unveiled a Music Heritage plaque to James. Speaking to a throng of fans, friends of the band and local dignitaries at the dedication ceremony, Deputy Chairman Paulette Long paid tribute to James and The Hacienda, the venue that gave the band its start.

The Hacienda is now an apartment block, but for many years it hosted legendary gigs and club nights.

James’ first gig at The Hacienda was as a support to Big Country. Jim Glennie, Paul Gilbertson, Gavan Whelan and Tim Booth were then unknown names, but are now recognised as the founding members of one of Manchester’s most famous bands.

James went on to sell more than 25 million albums and had huge hit singles with Come Home, Sit Down and She’s A Star.
