“Article publicising the setting-up of The Leadmill in Sheffield with the remit of 'community arts centre'; I had no idea about its co-operative hippie wholefoods roots. The Fall and Cabaret Voltaire played a benefit gig for it that raised 800. The tone is great, such as this attempt to reassure potential punters that everyone will be welcome: "Arts centres tend to conjure up visions of a bunch of snobs sat round discussing brush strokes...this is not what the Leadmill is setting out to be."”
