tell me if im wrong but i remember them being on Magpie (itvs blue peter) demonstrating it back in the 70s.
theres a G&C album called Consequences that uses it a lot.
its a sort of bowing device for guitars or basses.
I got mine from CHASE music on oldham street a few years back.
I rekon the most avid and succesful users were Throbing Gristle
who had one on the bass and one on the guitar- check out 20 Jazz Funk Greats
