Cherry Ghost

Submitted by Alex Wilson 15.05.07 2004- Band Members: Simon Aldred- Vox and Acoustic guitar Jim Rhodes- Guitar Ben Parsons- Keys Grenville Harrop- Drums Phil Anderson- Bass In essence Cherry Ghost is Simon Aldred: born in Bolton, based in Manchester, the full band is the wonderful distillation of acoustic solo material raised and nurtured by Aldred over many years. Honest tales of longing, love and loss flirt away in symphony with music that now swoons and waltzes a country-tinged ballet. Long time coming debut single “Mathematics” is an uplifting joy. An epic slice of shimmering, bittersweet indie-pop that will no doubt resonate across sunny fields and rainy festivals over the summer months, further pushing Aldred into the glorious limelight he deserves. Last years Jools Holland appearance set the tone for Cherry Ghost’s year ahead: onwards and upwards. Good airplay of the latest record plus live favourite “People Help People” set for June and debut album wrapped up in Liverpool’s’ Ape studious, exciting times lie ahead. Watch this space.
