Exhibition

In celebration of the life of CP Lee

This exhibition is our tribute to CP Lee, and a place to collect all the wonderful stories, memories and images that we all share of him. He touched so many people’s lives across the creative sector in Manchester, he was a real cultural icon, his breadth of knowledge on all things film, music, comedy and writing was phenomenal. Although I’d heard of CP, I didn’t actually meet him until 1999. I joined the teaching staff at the University of Salford, a single parent with a 2-yr old son in tow (who he had so much time and patience for and often bought little gifts). He gave me a seat in the office he shared with Andy Willis, and I eventually got my own drawer in the filing cabinet! He was a mentor and full of support and absolutely adored by the students he taught. His style was all his own, and I learned so much about lecturing from him. We connected over music, although we taught about media, and that was what sparked our other great adventure, this archive, which would simply not exist if it had not been for Chris’s book, Shake Rattle and Rain, which inspired us all. Thank you for your time, your passion, your wit and wisdom, you will be sorely missed Alison
