Dj Smila

Born in Manchester in 1970. Lived in Chorlton, Salford, London and Rochdale over the years. Huge Indie fan in 80's - The Smiths are the greatest band of all time! Hacienda became a regualr hangout, along with Boardwalk & Venue. Got into house music and started DJing in 1989, went by DJ F1 until FIA sued, so switched to DJ Smila (name courtesy of MC Storm). Collaborated with DJ Antix in the early days - our Sale Rugby Club gig has gone down in legend..! Worked with DJ Traxx and was an original member of New Dawn Posse, along with DJ Cherokee and MC Stormin Norman Storm. I was a core part of the now infamous Meeting of Minds @ Jilly's Rockworld with the New Dawn regulars and guest legends such as Sasha, Top Buzz and Carl Cox. Became part of the Sami B World Domination crew @ Sunset Radio - you can find one of my live Sunset Radio mixes on YouTube. Also got to work with Jay Wearden & Moggy @ the much missed Hippodrome in Middleton. Went on to DJ across the UK and Ibiza at places such as Hacienda, Eclipse, Renaissance, Shelley's, Club UK, Ministry of Sound, Cafe Mambo & Amnesia. Very much retired from behind the decks but still love top quality house music and enjoy proper Old Skool tunes.
