Graham Clark is a British improvising violinist whose work spans jazz, rock, free improvisation, and experimental music. Born in Manchester and based in Buxton since 1996, he has spent over five decades exploring music using the violin. He also has a long-standing interest in philosophy and the cognitive sciences. He came to wider attention through his long association with Daevid Allen and the Gong family of projects, including Gongmaison and the Magick Brothers. His playing has appeared on numerous recordings across the Gong universe, as well as collaborations with musicians such as Keith Tippett, Andy Sheppard, Martin Archer, Graham Massey Alabaster dePlume, Elbow, Lamb, Toolshed amongst many others. Clark’s musical life has taken him from Manchester’s underground scenes to the creative scene of Bristol. His work has been heard in venues ranging from small clubs to international festivals, as well as a period busking in the London Underground. In 2026 he began serialising online his memoir, We Are Made of Each Other, a reflective, often intimate account of his life in music, the people and ideas that shaped him, and the wider cultural landscapes he moved through.
