The Johnny Friendlies
The Johnny Friendlies were formed in 1989 with the original line-up of Phil Mahon (Vocals & Guitar), Roger Blackburn (Bass) and Mark Rushton (Drums). The band is still around playing in the North West although the bassist is now Horace Dogson (formally The Winchesters and Herbert's Herberts). For a couple of years Bert Edwards played bass.
Although the band is primarily a trio it is sometimes expanded to 5 and even 6 members. The usual additions are usually: Rick Lucas (Guitar), Nick Cornall (Keyboards) and Clive Mellor (Harmonica & Percussion).
The music is a mixture of anything with roots: blues, soul, country and rock 'n' roll.
