“The till was on the same electrical circuit as the bar so you heard the till registering a sale over the pa. When you heard it you knew the landlord would be a happy bunny and pay you more for the night. Great days in Hulme”

“Hurrah, someone remembers - esp that nasty Courtney Pine, pulled out at the last minute as he was just making it big - an excellent gig. set up by The Site. Time to get out my memorabelia and scan some original posters, tickets and running order. The Fall were superb, with Brix very new to the mayhem which is Mark E Smith. All I remember is sitting next to someone who was discussing his new fireplace while they were playing. maybe it is time for another festival of the four million”

“St Wilfrid's \social Club was the venue for many Hulme Bands - notably Fallover 24, ACR, Crispy Ambulance, Dutch Uncle, etc., etc. - loads more but too late to remember tonight. Will trawl through my files for more. Incidentally both me and John Nancollis of "the site" fame still work at St Wilf's - we own the church. Still lost after the three legged pub crawl for the Hulme Carnival. Gone to Earth were a brilliant band who, at one point had Gavin Whelan (Happy Mondays) playing for them, though he was a bugger to find sober.”
