“It was a Piccadilly Records birthday party at Dry Bar, in the basement I think. It was really heaving and hot and a gathering of the clans. I think the year may be right as I played the jump-up remix of No Diggity by Urban Takeover and it 'went orf'!”

“Hiya Luca, I am Bigmouth! You can use what you want from here if it is ok with Abigail who runs Queer Noise and the MDMA archive. Parcel going in the post for you today. Love, Kath McDermott. x”

“Amazing footage. I love the theatre manager inspecting his staff.”

“Interesting that the music ended up being 'big disco, house and pop'. Originally Luke and I wanted to play deep house and nu disco, like Balihu, Moodymann etc, but over the years it became more party-orientated music. I can remember playing Blondie (Atomic) as last tune at the first one and Luke looking very unsure. I had already crossed the Rubicon and there would be no turning back!”

“I think the Kinki Gerlinki one was a teaser flyer that we would do well in advance for a big Flesh (Xmas etc) then we would print a decent one nearer the time. Yes, I agree with Bushy that it was a great night, wild and flamboyant. I seem to remember John Galliano coming to that one. I would love to see the huge Flesh Guest List book again. We were notorious at the Hacienda for having ridiculously large guesties and would manage to eat, drink and get our hair done for free for most of the month as a result!
The 6a.m. licence for the beach party would have been very unusual at the time.”

“I have a vague recollection of doing this, the flyer is a load of toss.
It must have been quite a bold move going head to head with Flesh the week before Xmas, because Rockworld is a large venue. Maybe it was put on by Paradise Factory because all the dj's worked there too.”

“I checked out the back of this and it says that will be a Homoelectric at a Secret Party Location on that Mardi Gras Weekend. Can't remember where that was, any ideas? I would have played at it, but have no recollection, so it must have been good. Around this time Electriks were doing lots of illegal parties in some ace spaces under the moniker 'Electric Souls"
I think the Mardi Gras diatribe is bob on, still. Check out the divshare link. I think the bars are fleecing the public and not handing enough cash over to charity. But that is just my opinion...”

“I dj'ed the loft on Friday nights at Paradise for years, it was actually a half decent venue for a women's night at the time and the crowd was pretty good, not too many fights! Although towards the end of my time there ('96?) it started to feel like Groundhog Day, feeling compelled to play the same tunes to the same faces, for a good while it was a great night.
List of tunes we would be permanently hassled for:
1. Bjork "Big Time Sensuality" (J. Robertson mix!)
2. Bobby Brown "Two Can Play That Game"
3. Livin' Joy "Dreamer"
4. Original "I Love You Baby"
Get the picture?!”

“Yes, we thought they were doomed to disaster those brothers, we even called them 'Twit and Twat'. Who would have thought they would develop one of the biggest glaobal brands in clubbing history?”
