“Tuesday nights at 8.00 was the disco night ! Went quite often , although I don’t remember the music being particularly good and for some reason the DJ regularly played ‘ Warm Leatherette ‘ by Robert Rental and the Normal. Marc Reilly actually went to our school ( St Greg’s Ardwick ) along with Craig Scanlon who I think might have also played that night.”

“Worst jukebox ever - From a Jack to a King by Ned Miller and a Jimmy Shand EP! The nearest we got to something half decent was Blondie . Brian Keating , Phil Giblin , Dominic Field , Ronnie Marsden , Lisa Owen , Cath + Jacqui Ellis , Mark Drummond , Simon Traynor , Ricky Cairns”

“I remember going to this gig. Other bands on the bill were The Distractions, Spizz Oil / Energy ( actually I don't think they turned up ) and John the Postman who had a pint thrown over him on stage ( maybe people wanted something different from Louie ,Louie )”

“I went to this gig and remember Paul jumping offstage. The Images had quite a loyal fan base who would follow the group around the Manchester music circuit but the only trouble was that the 'locals' (yokels ?) didn't take too kindly to boys with straight leg trousers being in their town and often used to provide a reception committee to explain their point.Hyde was one of these places along with Dukinfield , Stalybridge and Montgomery , Alabama”

“I remember Portland Bill Mercer, full of tattoos and a dodgy blond quiff looking a like a cross between the A Flock of Seagulls lead singer and Jerry Lee Lewis. Fancied himself as a bit of a stand-up comic and used to do a 'slot' before the main event.I think he was an ex-Ted.His jokes were as bad as his clothes but I wouldn't say this to his face as he looked as though he could handle himself”

“Perry Boys ? I don't think so , Terry. A drummer with a ' wedge' cut does not make this a PB band. PBs were football casuals - many ex punks - who would not be seen dead following this type of group. The Images were essentially Merseybeat copycats but very good ones at that and only Paul came from Stockport , the others from up Hyde / Gee Cross , I think”
