“I saw them at an event called "Micabenefit Art Circus" at the Houldsworth Hall on Deansgate in June 1970. Quintessence topped the bill. Mica was some sort of Manchester Arts organisation at the time. All I remember of the Bear was them doing a satirical number about Vietnam, based on the premise of wheels falling off a tank - it was based on some novelty number of the mid to late 60s called "Three Wheels on My Wagon." Not sure, but I think one or more members of Greasy Bear went on to reasonable success in Sad Cafe.”

“My God, I am showing my age now! I remember seeing Greasy Bear at Salford College of Technology when I was 15 or 16! They were very heavy/hippie but to my young ears were great.
Lord, was i young back then!

“Ian Wilson went on to Sad Cafe
Bruce went on to Alberto Y Lost Trios Paranoias and then the The Durutti Column
C P Lee is now a lecturer at Salford University, I believe.”
