This charming little note is nestled into the HUGE volume of minute book papers for the Royal Manchester College of Music. It is written by Granville Bantock, a British composer who was commissioned to write a report on the RMCM's progress. This little note forms a part of his inquiry and focuses on the importance of the teacher training in to RMCM. It is particularly interesting because just a couple of years before this, the Northern School of Music was founded on Deansgate (as the Matthay School of Music Manchester) and was focused on teacher training for musicians. Notice of its importance and relevance to student success in the future has been picked up by Bantock and praised here in his little note.
Already a rivalry between two schools that would, some decades later, merge to form the current Royal Northern School of Music.
