Apparently, "lifts, flowers, eggs" made for quite the evening in 1942, or so Ida Gertrude Carroll (1905-1995, student and principal of the Northern School of Music) thanks Joan Bamford for after a "do".

Elizabeth Joan Bamford went on to become a music teacher in Wigan, earning herself an MBE for her work. Amongst her pupils was a young Sir Ian McKellen!
