Ida Carroll, Elizabeth Joan Bamford
Northern School Of Music (NSM)
1943

Ida Gertrude Carroll (1905-1995, student and principal of the Northern School of Music) celebrates the number of students they have through the war but also shares anxieties about wanting to volunteer for the war efforts. She writes to former pupil Joan Bamford.

Elizabeth Joan Bamford went on to become a music teacher in Wigan, earning herself an MBE for her work. Amongst her pupils was a young Sir Ian McKellen!
