Northern School Of Music (NSM)
2019

Bryan Fox explains why the Mancunian Way flyover in the city centre of Manchester has a curve in it.

Bryan: Oh, I mentioned this when we were talking earlier on… standing, looking at what was the Northern School of Music building and looking up and seeing the Mancunian Way and what I referred to as the Carroll curve, which, had she not got her way, the Northern School of Music would have been demolished and there would have been a nice straight run through on the Mancunian Way.
Heather: So they curved the motorway because Ida Carroll…
B: They had to build it round the Northern School of Music.

Part of the #NSM2020 project "A 20/20 Legacy: the centenary of the Northern School of Music" supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
