Trefor Davies remembers Ida Carroll offering him work singing Messiah.

Trefor: I got on very well with Ida, because she knew I was married with two children and she’d say [whispers] ‘I’ve got a Messiah for you’. Now I remember the first one I did was in Lymm and… so anyway that was good, that was a good start, because anything like that at all, she’d say, ‘are you busy so and so, there’s a Messiah for you?’, or there’s something, you know. She was a really great person I thought. Always knew exactly what was wanted, Ida, and was prepared to stick her neck out to do it as well. She was very good.

Part of the #NSM2020 project "A 20/20 Legacy: the centenary of the Northern School of Music" supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
