Flyer for gigs at the Band On The Wall from '79 I think. There are 3 bands on here that are not listed in the band of them being The Fireplace who I seem to remember were from Manc....does anyone know?

Featured in the following MDMArchive online exhibitions:

I had a God's Gift cassette once... political punk agit-prop sort of stuff, I seem to remember.

The Fireplace had a track (or two) on the original Object Records 'Manchester Musicians Collective' LP, the one with the 'football squad' photo of the collective's bands outside The Band On The Wall. I sold my copy in a time of need, picked up a secondhand one from Paramount years later, then ended up giving that one to Mark Hoyle when I heard that he'd been in Vibrant Thigh. (Nearly as funny as finding out that Graham Massey had been in Danny and the Dressmakers, but not quite).

I went to the first of these, and missed the I-Beats; God's Gift were going through an unlistenable phase. The Manchester Mekon were superb.

Gods Gift are still lost, but maybe they like it better that way?
At least three record companies want to reissue their material, so if you were one of them or know how to find them drop me a line via the New Hormones info site. Ta!

Louise Alderman says "I just wanted to point out that at the bottom of the Manchester Musicians Collective flyer for Gods Gift Manchester Mekon etc is a small ad that "Property Of " (an all girl collective band ) placed for a girl drummer and Guitarist.
As additional information This Ad was answered by Cath Carroll later of Glass Animals Miaow, City fun and the NME
Who played with us using the name Cath Ryecroft (her fathers surname )which she later stopped using".
