Artefact

Letter
Ida Carroll, Geoffrey Griffiths
1939

Griff carried a gas mask onto the bus, "never let it be said that I am always disobedient."
He asks her to the pictures, to see Greta Garbo's "Ninotchka" or "The Rains Came".
He laments about not seeing more of the area, "I sign for all the places I meant to visit but haven't", like Bramhall park and valley.
He's taken Boris his cello out of his corner but the weather has "played pranks" on the strings, and Miss Davies "of the Large Hats" who tried to sell him a cello but he's not a comfortable bargainer.
He's been very active lately with exercise which is of course an omen of bad health to come, and gives Ida a list of 7 illnesses that may be forthcoming.
