Band On The Wall

“Hello, the line up of the band was Mick Coates - vocals, Kevin Eden - guitar, vocals, Mick Church - bass and Peter Hibbert - drums.

The vocalist was sacked, the bass player left and Kevin and Peter mutated into Slight Seconds with the addition of Mike Shaw -bass.

The above picture was indeed taken at BOTW by Ian Barnes , but not with Exodus. That was gig was at The Squat on St Patricks Day 1978.

Hope thats all of some use.

Don't know who Ian Barnes was but this was definitely my photo. If you'd like the rest of them let me know. Exodus were on the same roll of film with the same background so I assumed they were on the same bill, but maybe not.”

Just for the record The Elite made their live debut at the Manchester Musicians Collective, in the basement of North West Arts in King Street on 22nd August 1977.

The gig with Exodus and The Passage was on 17th March 1978 at The Squat on Oxford Road. This was pulled down years ago and is now near where the Contact Theatre complex is.”

“The above photo must have been from 30th October 1977 (I was 18 2 days before). I say this with certainty as Peter is playing a borrowed drum kit (probably Dick Witts'). Peter didn't get his own drum kit until January 1978 and our next BOTW gig was on 30th January.”

“Hi Bernie, has asked adminstrator to send my email address to you. But when I looked in my archive of photos lo and behold I have these and a couple of other BOTW photos already! I presumed that Ian had taken them (as he took a pile of others for The Elite). Can't remember how they were handed to me. But thanks for the offer.
