The Art Treasures Exhibition of Manchester ran for over 140 days in a purpose built structure near the Botanical Gardens in Trafford (now White City Retail). Charles Hallé was asked to put together an orchestra which would perform at the exhibition - and thus the idea for the Hallé Orchestra was born.
