This is a double bass bow, originally part of the collection at the Northern School of Music (1920-1972). Ida Carroll, principal of the school, was a double bass player, and this bow was likely one of her collection. This bow was made around 1900 and is made of ivory, ebony, pearl, nickel, iron, brass. Its design is based on the "Dragonetti" style. Dragonetti was an Italian virtuoso bass player and composer - he made the double bass a standout instrument separate from the cello and developed a design of bass bow.
