Artefact
This is a late 19th century German-made violin. The 1907 version of the catalogue of the collection notes that this item is a 'a specimen of a cheaply made fiddle, the retail cost of which was half-a-crown! It is one of a large number which were supplied, some years ago, for pantomime purposes in Manchester.' It made its way to the RMCM via a private donation, and the RNCM inherited it.
