This mandolin was presented to the Royal Manchester College of Music in 1906. It was owned by G. Tartaglione, who was recruited by Sir Charles Hallé in 1893 to be tutor of singing at his new school, the Royal Manchester College of Music. He stayed in Manchester until he died in 1910. He also held opera singing classes on 10 Brighton Street, off Oxford Rd.
