This conductor's baton is made of a light wood with a metal handle inscribed with "presented to Charles Hallé Esq. to commemorate the jubilee year of his musical career and the commencement of this 20th series of concerts in Manchester by Thomas Batley October 25th 1877."
Thomas Batley was Hallé's librarian, conductor, musician.
