Charles Hallé
1879

Carved ivory baton, contained in a leather-covered wooden case with metal label on lid inscribed: "To Charles Hallé Esq from The Bristol Musical Festival Choir 1879".
The baton is beautifully decorated with the handle decorated with a cherubim bust of Beethoven, lyre, music scroll, with a stylised 'CH' monogram. The baton is ceremonial, designed for presentation only, not to be used to actually conduct - its weight makes it unwieldy.
