This cornet (a shorter, more compact trumpet), was made by J. Higham Ltd in Manchester. Etched on the bell is "patent clear bore, exhibition prize medal awarded London 1862 & Dublin 1865 to J. Higham, maker, 127 Strangeways, Manchester, 38162"
