Article on the opening of the Archway from City Life Jan '83. "In The Pink" column. If it’s the club I’m thinking of it was pretty impressive at the time, tres moderne, and although small, still managed to have a mezzanine. Pretty sure it had a motorbike on the dancefloor at some point, below the D.J., and an overwhelming and slightly stifling smoke machine. From the photo seems like The Village People sense of style hadn’t quite passed into the flannels of history by this juncture...
In the same issue the What's On for theatre and cinema:- "Come Back to The Five and Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean" on at The Aaben, "Educating Rita" on general release;the great Jimmy Witherspoon on at T.B.O.T.W.; a 2 page article on the new fad of American Football etc.....
