Archive: British Music Collection's Composer Files
Reference: BMC/CO/4
Title: British Music Collection's Composer Files
Level: Collection
Extent: apprx. 50 files
Creator: British Music Information Centre
Dates: 1960s-2000s
Scope and content: The CMMA catalogue here represents a selection of the British Music Information Centre's archive, currently held at Heritage Quay with the University of Huddersfield. The selection includes those records relating to composers who are either heavily connected to Greater Manchester or were born in Greater Manchester. For the full catalogue, please visit the Heritage Quay resources www.heritagequay.org
The full collection consists of nearly 2000 files. It is unknown when the files were created so a broad date has been used to indicate this.
These composer files (BMC/CO) includes material for research and informational use by the Centre's users. The contents of these files were accumulated as a result of donations by composers, BMIC staff attending concerts and events, and the BMIC's 'Call for Information' initiative which saw members of the public donating information about composers. Each composer file contains varying amounts and types of information. Files for composers whose surnames start with C, D and E did not come to Heritage Quay from the British Music Information Centre offices and are thought to be lost.
