John Manduell, Bryan Fox
Royal Northern College Of Music (RNCM)
2019

Bryan Fox talks about working from John Manduell's home to help administer the RNCM's early days.

Bryan: I started working with him on the 22nd September 1971. Because there was no building for the Northern College of Music (as it was called then), we worked from his home in High Bentham, which was a fantastic… it’s a lovely little market town, and his secretary, when she was appointed, worked in the study. My office was the dining room and when he wasn’t jetting off hither and yon, he was in the sitting room, while his wife worked in the music room, and there were children and cats everywhere, and it was just a fantastic beginning.

Part of the #NSM2020 project "A 20/20 Legacy: the centenary of the Northern School of Music" supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
