Despite being founded in London, the Lindsay Quartet and its members experienced much of their performing successes up North. Roger Bigley, one of the founders of the Lindsay Quartet, became deputy head of strings at the RNCM, assistant principal viola at the BBC Philharmonic. The Lindsay Quartet were Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Manchester.
Peter Cropper, the quartet's principal violinist, also later took up a teaching position at the RNCM. Second violinist, Ronald Birks, was trained at the Royal Manchester College of Music.

Digitised for the Throwing Open the Concert Doors project, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
