Various personal collections of administrators, musicians etc. that have worked for the Hallé Orchestra or the Hallé Concert Society or strongly affiliated to it.
Description: Most of the collection is correspondence between Gustav Behrens and various individuals, including Sir Hamilton Harty, on matters to do with the administration of the Halle Concerts Society. There are also some items of early Halle interest, including letters from Charles Halle himself.
Description: This collection consists of programmes for Hallé and other classical concerts in Manchester and other venues. Some also contain cuttings reviewing the performances, and one or two have annotations on. In order to maintain the integrity of the collection they have all been retained together.

Description: This small collection was found within the archive, its accession date is unknown. It is essentially memorabilia and souvenirs covering Norah Winstanley's years as a player.
Description: The collection includes programmes both for Hallé Concerts and others in and around Manchester, including the Opera House and Palace Theatres. There are some newscuttings, largely relating to Sir John Barbirolli and the Hallé. In the first section are some items relating to Sir Charles and the initial founding of the Hallé Concerts Society, as well as some material passed to Michael Kennedy by Ernest Bean [former Concerts Manager] when the former was writing his biography of Sir John Barbirolli.

Description: There are programmes for the Harold Holt International Celebrity Subscription Concerts but the majority are for opera performances at the Manchester Opera House 1928-1947 by various companies, including the British National Opera Company, conducted by John Barbirolli.
Concert and Opera Programmes, Manchester and North West
Description: The majority of the programmes are for the Queen's Theatre and Opera House Manchester, and largely for Sir Thomas Beecham's Opera seasons and promenade concerts, for which the Halle Orchestra was engaged. There are also some miscellaneous programmes for recitals and local concerts, mostly in Heaton Moore.

Description: This collection of recordings is the work of two men. Derick Davenport made it his life's work to collect one copy of each recording issued by the Halle. After his death he left his collection to David Jones, who had already compiled the Halle discography. In 2007 David Jones deposited a CD collection, copied from all the original recordings, together with indexes of his own. The collection is for listening purposes only as many of the recordings are copyright. Since David Jones' indexes are so comprehensive, the catalogue here is simply a list of the CDs in numerical order. Full details of the original recordings can be found by consulting the discography, or in the HA/SR catalogue where we have the recording in its original format.
Description: These two volumes contain cuttings for Halle and other classical concerts in Manchester during the 1930s. They have been pasted in with care but were undated. Many of the reviews are Neville Cardus [NC] for the Manchester Guardian. The others are mostly by Granville Hill [GAH] also for the Guardian.
Description: Papers collected by members of the Hoffmann family during several generations' association with the Hallé. The Hoffmann brothers, John and Otto, joined the orchestra during Halle's lifetime. John Hoffmann [II], father to the depositor, looked after the Hallé Steinways for many years. The collection comprises cuttings, photographs and memorabilia, and a small number of recordings.
Description: Hardback scrapbook with cuttings from the Manchester Guardian, many reviews for Halle Concerts and other recitals, plays etc. The majority are by Samuel Langford. Dates given are for the cuttings, not necessarily the concerts, which will generally be the day before.
Description: Book of cuttings relating to the Halle during its Centenary year. It would appear to have been a school project. The name Marlene H Wilkinson is inscribed in the inside cover. The articles have been pasted in with small notes including the dates.
