Sheila Barlow (1908-1993), M.B.E. The collection mainly focusses on her work as a teacher at the Royal Manchester College of Music, working with opera students on elocution and gesture. The collection contains many of her teaching resources and notes as well as some from James Bernard, her predecessor and teacher. Also contained within the collection are notes for her unfinished book on the work of Francois Delsarte, a singing and elocution pioneer. The papers include teaching and research, correspondence, papers re productions, biographical material, photographs and other media.
