“I was part of this Festival. Granada wrote to me out of the blue saying I'd been recommended as an upcoming poet.
They filmed me doing one of my poems and it was broadcast on one of the evening shows.
I went along to the Festival, saw Henry Normal, Johnny Dangerously, Lemn Sissay, Su Andi, Candy Flip. During the Madchester years. What a time to be alive”
“So thrilled to have found this! Was introduced to this band by one of the nursery staff where my kids went. He knew I adored indie music.
I got a cd/ep from them, loved the MySpace page (why did that end??). Still play that cd now. Great band, unfortunately never got to see them live.”
“I was schoolmates with Phil Beckett, we knocked about together in the same group of friends.
Always blows my mind that he went on to be an important DJ in the scene.
Went to a couple of his Bop Locals in the early noughties, was always so great to catch up”
“I was there! Who knew it was history in the making. They'd only opened 2 of the front doors on Maxwell Hall, I literally got carried in on a wave of people surging through.
The night was feral, the night was memorable.
I now have a coaster of this ticket, a daily reminder of what a time to be alive”
“I found Geese on Back Pool Fold in 1985 when I went to buy a ticket for The Boardwalk Christmas party (James and The Railway Children) as this is where they were being sold! I'd hunted everywhere for a polo neck jumper, only finding them in old men's shops...but of course Geese had them. Such a cool shop”
“I knew these guys, went to school/college with two of them then met Howard through them. I used to collect cuttings like this. Thanks for the memories ????”
“I was at the Mark Burgess gig....I just nearly fell through the floor when I saw it said Oasis, till I saw your explanation. Mark and Lard were on form. I asked Johnny to play "Subway Life" and he went "ok mum"! We were sat on the floor. It was a great night”
